Corona phobia has caused the heavy use of face masks on the streets, but there are other effective ways to boost immunity to fight all viruses.

What is the immune system?

The immune system is a network of cells, organs, proteins, and antibodies that protects you from bacteria, viruses, and parasites, and it doesn't just work when we feel sick.
There are two main parts of the immune system, the innate response, and the acquired response.
The innate response works to find out what the friend and the enemy are; then, it tries to get rid of the invaders - this can make us feel fever or mucus, and the acquired response remembers specific invaders and send the right cells to kill them.

Is wearing a face mask helpful?

Since the spread of the Coronavirus, sales of face masks have increased by 800%, and you've probably seen people wearing them in crowded places, like stations or airports.
But there is no conclusive evidence to suggest that they can prevent virus particles from entering the mouth and throat, as the mask can prevent you from self-polluting by placing your hands in your mouth or nose.
Unfortunately, "the immune system has been going down by about 2 to 3% per year since the 1920s, which is why older people are more susceptible to infections," because of death rates from diseases such as pneumonia and bronchitis is three times higher in the elderly.

Seven ways to improve your immune system: Eat spices, fasting, ginger, and turmeric.Remember to drink green tea.Get enough sleep.Reduce stress. Keep warm. Lots of fluids. Essential oils.

1. Eat spices, fasting, ginger, and turmeric:

Season your food with garlic, onion, ginger, turmeric, and chili pepper; these ingredients have antioxidant, detoxifying, and antimicrobial properties.

2. Remember to drink green tea:

It is rich in antioxidants called polyphenols, which are among the best fighters against infections.

3. Get enough sleep:

Good night's sleep (7-9 hours) can help strengthen T-cells that fight infection in the body, and a study also found that just one night's sleep for 4 hours depleted the body's natural killer cells by 70 %.

4. Reduce stress:

The brain and the immune system are in constant contact, and when we are stressed, the brain produces more cortisol and prepares the body for emergencies. Still, in doing so, it weakens the immune system, so try relaxation exercises like yoga or meditation.

5. Keep warm:

Cold viruses are more contagious at temperatures below 37 ° C, which is the average basal body temperature, so heat fights infections.

6. Lots of fluids:

Liquids help keep you hydrated, which naturally helps your body get rid of toxins and other bacteria that can cause illness, with at least 8 cups of water a day.

7. Essential oils:

Lemon has strong antibacterial properties and has been shown to stimulate the production of white blood cells, which fight infections, simply spill and inhale drops of lemon oil.
